Terms and Conditions of Membership and Participation

These Terms and Conditions set out the principles, expectations and rules that apply to membership of Singh Bikers and participation in our rides, events and activities.
Singh Bikers is a Midlands based motorcycle community guided by Sikh values and open to all.
By becoming a member of Singh Bikers, members agree to respect these Terms and the values upon which our community is built.
1. About Singh Bikers
Singh Bikers exists to bring together people who share a passion for motorcycles, friendship, brotherhood, equality, respect, seva and responsible riding.
We are a member led community. Every member is valued, every member has a voice and members are encouraged to play a part in shaping the Club and its future.
Membership does not require a person to be Sikh. We welcome people from different faiths, cultures and backgrounds who respect the values and principles upon which Singh Bikers is built.

2. Our Values
The values of Singh Bikers include:
Brotherhood
We ride together, look out for one another and build friendships that go beyond motorcycles.
Equality
Everyone is valued. Whatever your background, faith or the motorcycle you ride, everyone who shares our values is welcome.
Respect
We treat fellow members, other road users, other motorcycle clubs and biking communities, and the wider community with respect.
Seva
Giving back is part of who we are. We aim to use our community to support others and make a positive difference.
Safe Riding
We enjoy the freedom of riding while recognising our individual responsibility to ride lawfully, responsibly and within our own abilities.
Member Voice
Every member has a voice. Members are encouraged to share ideas, suggest rides and activities, support causes and contribute to the development of Singh Bikers.
3. Sikh Values and Representing Singh Bikers
Singh Bikers is guided by Sikh values and open to all.
Members do not have to be Sikh, but every member is expected to respect and uphold the values and principles on which the Club is built.
These include equality, respect, humility, honesty, compassion, courage, brotherhood and seva, the principle of selfless service and giving back to others.
Members are expected to demonstrate these values in the way they treat fellow members, other road users, other motorcycle clubs and biking communities, and the wider community.
This responsibility is particularly important when attending Singh Bikers rides and events, wearing the Club jacket or insignia, displaying the Singh Bikers name or logo, or otherwise representing the Club in public or online.
Members must not use the Singh Bikers name, clothing or insignia in connection with behaviour that is discriminatory, threatening, abusive, deliberately disrespectful or otherwise seriously inconsistent with the values of the Club.
Wearing the Singh Bikers insignia means representing more than yourself.
Members are expected to conduct themselves in a way that reflects positively on Singh Bikers, its members and the Sikh values that guide our community.
4. Joining Singh Bikers
We want getting involved with Singh Bikers to be simple and welcoming.
A person interested in joining may be invited to attend one or more rides, meetings or social activities as a guest before becoming an official member.
Submitting an enquiry or joining form through the Singh Bikers website does not automatically create membership.
Attending a ride, meeting or event as a guest also does not automatically make somebody a member.
The introductory period gives the individual an opportunity to get to know Singh Bikers and gives existing members an opportunity to get to know them.
Where the individual enjoys being part of the group, shares our values and it feels right for everyone, they may be invited to become an official member.
Singh Bikers reserves the right to decide whether to offer membership, acting reasonably and in accordance with the Club's values and applicable law.
5. Guest Riders
Guest riders may participate in rides or activities where Singh Bikers has invited or agreed to their participation.
Guests are expected to follow the same reasonable standards of safety, behaviour and respect that apply to members while participating in a Singh Bikers activity.
Guest riders remain responsible for their own motorcycle, riding decisions, licence or entitlement, insurance, protective equipment and compliance with the law.
Participation as a guest does not give a person membership rights.
Guest riders are not entitled to wear official Singh Bikers membership insignia unless expressly authorised by the Club.
6. Membership Requirements
Members participating as motorcycle riders must hold the appropriate valid motorcycle licence or other legal entitlement for the motorcycle they ride.
Members are responsible for ensuring that their motorcycle is legally permitted to be used on the road.
This includes maintaining appropriate insurance, vehicle tax and MOT where required and keeping the motorcycle in a safe and roadworthy condition.
Members remain responsible for satisfying these requirements throughout their membership.
Singh Bikers does not inspect or certify members' motorcycles.
Participation in a Singh Bikers ride must not be regarded as confirmation by the Club that a motorcycle is safe, roadworthy, insured or otherwise legally compliant.
Where there is a reasonable safety or legal concern, Singh Bikers may refuse or restrict a person's participation in a Club ride or activity.
7. Group Rides and Rider Responsibility
Motorcycling involves risks and every rider remains responsible for their own riding decisions.
Participation in a Singh Bikers ride is voluntary.
Every rider is expected to:
• comply with road traffic law and the Highway Code
• ride within their own ability and experience
• ride appropriately for the road, traffic and weather conditions
• maintain an appropriate and safe distance from other road users
• follow reasonable ride briefings and safety instructions
• use appropriate protective equipment and comply with the legal requirements relating to motorcycle helmets, subject to the statutory exemption for followers of the Sikh religion while wearing a turban
• ensure their motorcycle is roadworthy and suitable for the ride
• avoid riding in a way they consider unsafe simply to remain with the group
A Singh Bikers ride is not a race.
No member or guest should feel pressured to exceed a speed limit, ride beyond their ability, make an unsafe manoeuvre or break the law in order to remain with the group.
If the group becomes separated, riders should continue safely and follow any arrangements communicated during the ride briefing.
The safety of riders, passengers and other road users takes priority over keeping the group together.
8. Sikh Turbans and Motorcycle Helmets
Singh Bikers is proud to include Sikh members, including members who wear a turban, as well as members who are not Sikh.
Motorcycle riders and pillion passengers are generally required by law to wear appropriate protective motorcycle headgear.
Under section 16(2) of the Road Traffic Act 1988, the motorcycle protective headgear requirement does not apply to a follower of the Sikh religion while wearing a turban.
The Highway Code also confirms that the motorcycle helmet requirement does not apply to a follower of the Sikh religion while wearing a turban.
This is a legal religious exemption. It is not an exemption created by Singh Bikers or by membership of the Club.
Membership of Singh Bikers does not give a person who is not a follower of the Sikh religion the right to rely upon the Sikh religious exemption from motorcycle helmet requirements.
Wearing a Singh Bikers jacket, displaying Singh Bikers insignia, participating in a Singh Bikers ride or wearing a turban for any other reason does not itself create an exemption from the law.
A member who is not legally entitled to rely upon the Sikh religious exemption must wear legally compliant motorcycle headgear whenever required by law.
Sikh members who are followers of the Sikh religion and are wearing a turban may rely upon the exemption provided by law.
Singh Bikers respects the lawful choice of Sikh members who ride wearing a turban in accordance with the religious exemption.
Every member and guest remains personally responsible for understanding and complying with the law applicable to them.
Nothing about membership of Singh Bikers changes, extends or creates an exemption from motorcycle helmet law.
Current government guidance confirms that a motorcycle rider generally has to wear a helmet, with an exemption for a Sikh wearing a turban.
9. Alcohol, Drugs and Fitness to Ride
Members and guests must not participate in a Singh Bikers motorcycle ride while impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs or any other substance that makes them unfit to ride safely or lawfully.
Riders remain individually responsible for determining whether they are fit and legally permitted to ride.
This includes considering whether medication, tiredness, illness or any other circumstance may affect their ability to ride safely.
Where there is a reasonable concern that a rider is not fit to participate safely, Singh Bikers may refuse or restrict that person's participation in a ride.
10. Insurance
Every rider is responsible for maintaining the motor insurance legally required for their motorcycle and their use of it.
Any insurance held by Singh Bikers does not automatically provide individual members or guests with personal accident, medical, motorcycle damage, breakdown, loss of belongings or legal expenses cover unless expressly stated by the relevant insurance policy.
Members and guests remain responsible for arranging any additional insurance they consider appropriate.
11. Club Jacket, Insignia and Club Identity
The Singh Bikers club jacket represents the Club, its members and the values for which Singh Bikers stands.
Official members are required to wear the approved Singh Bikers club jacket at all official Singh Bikers rides and events, unless the Club advises otherwise or there is a reasonable safety or practical reason.
Official Singh Bikers patches, badges, insignia and other membership identifiers remain the property of Singh Bikers.
Club insignia must be treated with respect.
Members must not sell, transfer, give away, copy, reproduce or permit another person to use official Singh Bikers patches, badges or insignia without permission from the Club.
Members must not make unauthorised alterations to official Singh Bikers insignia.
If a member leaves Singh Bikers or their membership is terminated, all official Singh Bikers patches, badges, insignia and other membership identifiers must be removed and returned to the Club within the reasonable period specified by Singh Bikers.
Where the jacket itself has been purchased and paid for by the member, the jacket remains the member's property.
Once membership has ended, however, the jacket must no longer display Singh Bikers insignia or otherwise give the impression that the former member continues to represent Singh Bikers.
12. Singh Bikers Name and Logo
The Singh Bikers name, logo, artwork, patches, badges, designs and other official branding must not be reproduced, altered, sold or used commercially without permission from Singh Bikers.
Membership does not give a member ownership of the Singh Bikers name, logo or other Club intellectual property.
Members must not use the Singh Bikers identity to suggest that the Club supports or endorses a business, organisation, campaign, event, product, cause or other activity unless Singh Bikers has agreed to that association.
13. Respect, Equality and Conduct
Singh Bikers is committed to being a welcoming and respectful motorcycle community.
Members and guests are expected to treat each other with dignity and respect.
Discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, threatening behaviour and deliberately offensive behaviour are not acceptable.
Members must not engage in conduct including:
• discriminatory or derogatory treatment of another person
• bullying, threatening, intimidating or harassing another member or guest
• deliberately creating serious or unnecessary conflict within the Club
• using Club activities or communication channels to pursue personal disputes in an inappropriate manner
• improperly disclosing another member's private or confidential information
• deliberately damaging Club property
• seriously misusing the Singh Bikers name or reputation
• behaving in a manner that creates a serious or unreasonable safety risk
Disagreements will occasionally happen.
Members are encouraged to resolve ordinary differences respectfully, privately and constructively wherever possible.
14. Respect for Faith and Sikh Identity
Singh Bikers welcomes members from different faiths, cultures and backgrounds.
Members must respect the religious beliefs and practices of others.
The Sikh identity, traditions and values associated with Singh Bikers must also be treated with respect.
Deliberate or serious disrespect towards Sikh articles of faith, sacred symbols or places of worship may be treated as a serious breach of Club standards.
Where Singh Bikers attends a religious, cultural or community event, members must respect reasonable requirements associated with that event.
15. Dress at Special Events
Certain events, including religious, cultural, ceremonial or community occasions, may have particular expectations regarding dress or conduct.
Where appropriate, Singh Bikers will communicate these requirements before the event.
Members representing Singh Bikers are expected to respect reasonable dress and conduct requirements associated with the occasion.
16. WhatsApp, Social Media and Online Conduct
Singh Bikers may use WhatsApp, social media and other digital platforms to communicate with members and organise Club activities.
The same standards of respect that apply in person also apply online.
Members must not use Club communication channels for bullying, harassment, discrimination, threats, persistent personal attacks or deliberately offensive material.
Members must respect the privacy of other members.
Telephone numbers, addresses, private messages, photographs, personal information and other private information obtained through Club membership must not be improperly shared outside the Club.
Content from private Singh Bikers groups should not ordinarily be copied, screenshotted or distributed outside the group without permission where doing so would compromise another person's privacy or legitimate Club confidentiality.
Members should also remember that comments made publicly while identifying themselves as a Singh Bikers member may be associated with the Club.
17. Member Voice and Club Decisions
Singh Bikers is a member led club.
Members are encouraged to suggest rides, destinations, social activities, community projects, fundraising initiatives and other ideas for the Club.
Every member should have a reasonable opportunity to contribute ideas and express their views respectfully.
Not every suggestion can necessarily be adopted.
Club decisions may take account of safety, cost, insurance, available resources, member interest, legal requirements and what is considered appropriate for Singh Bikers as a whole.
Where appropriate, significant Club matters may be discussed with members before decisions are made.
This is our club, built together.
18. Seva, Charity and Community Activities
Seva and giving back to the community are important parts of the Singh Bikers identity.
The Club may organise, support or participate in charitable fundraising, community activities and other causes consistent with its values.
Where money is collected for a particular charity, organisation or cause, Singh Bikers will aim to make the purpose of the fundraising clear.
Members must not collect money, seek sponsorship or undertake fundraising using the Singh Bikers name without appropriate Club approval.
Singh Bikers must not be represented as a registered charity unless and until it is formally registered as one.
19. Membership Fees
Membership of Singh Bikers is free throughout 2026.
No annual membership fee will be charged for membership during 2026.
Singh Bikers will review its membership arrangements for 2027 and future years.
The review may result in a reasonable annual membership fee being introduced to contribute towards the costs of running the Club, insurance, administration, events, activities and other legitimate Club costs.
Any membership fee and the arrangements applying to it will be communicated to members before it takes effect.
Nothing in these Terms guarantees that membership will remain free after 2026 or that a membership fee will necessarily be introduced.
20. Photography and Video
Photographs and videos may be taken during Singh Bikers rides, events, social activities, community events and other Club activities.
They may be used for legitimate Club purposes including recording Club activities, communicating with members, promoting Singh Bikers and sharing Club activities through its website and social media channels.
Where photographs or videos constitute personal data, they will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection law and the Singh Bikers Privacy Policy.
Members who have concerns about being photographed or about the Club's use of a particular photograph or video should contact Singh Bikers.
Requests concerning photographs or videos will be considered individually in accordance with applicable data protection law.
Members should understand that photographs and videos may also be taken independently by other members of the public, event organisers, photographers, news organisations or social media users.
Singh Bikers cannot control material independently created or published by third parties.
21. Privacy and Personal Information
Singh Bikers will process personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.
Personal information supplied through the Singh Bikers website, joining process or Club activities will only be processed where Singh Bikers has an appropriate purpose and lawful basis for doing so.
The Singh Bikers Privacy Policy will provide further information about what personal information is collected, why it is collected, how it is used, how long it may be retained, who it may be shared with and the rights available to individuals.
22. Leaving Singh Bikers
A member may leave Singh Bikers by notifying the Club.
Once membership ends, that person's membership rights also end.
All official Singh Bikers patches, badges, insignia and other membership identifiers belonging to the Club must be removed and returned within the reasonable period specified by Singh Bikers.
The former member must stop representing themselves as a current Singh Bikers member.
Where the member purchased the underlying jacket, they may retain the jacket once all Singh Bikers insignia has been removed.
Leaving the Club does not automatically require Singh Bikers to delete every historical Club record, photograph, video, financial record or correspondence concerning the former member.
Requests relating to personal information will be considered separately in accordance with the Singh Bikers Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.
23. Suspension or Restriction
Singh Bikers may temporarily suspend or restrict a member's participation where reasonably necessary for reasons including:
• safety
• protection of members or the public
• serious concerns about behaviour
• suspected serious breaches of Club rules
• protection of Club property or identity
• investigation of a complaint or incident
• the proper operation of Singh Bikers
Where reasonably practicable, the member will be informed of the concern and given an opportunity to respond.
A temporary suspension while a matter is considered does not automatically mean that an allegation has been proven.
24. Ending Membership
Singh Bikers may end a person's membership where there has been a serious or repeated breach of these Terms.
Reasons may include:
• serious misconduct
• dangerous or persistently irresponsible behaviour
• serious discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation or threatening behaviour
• fraud or dishonesty affecting the Club
• misuse of Club funds or property
• serious misuse of the Singh Bikers name, logo, jacket or insignia
• refusal to return Club insignia following the end of membership
• conduct seriously conflicting with the Sikh values and principles upon which Singh Bikers is built
• conduct that materially undermines the safety, reputation or proper operation of Singh Bikers
Where reasonably practicable, the member will be told the nature of the concern and given a reasonable opportunity to respond before a final decision is made.
Immediate temporary action may be taken where reasonably necessary to protect members, guests, the public, Club property or the proper operation of Singh Bikers.
25. Complaints and Concerns
Members are encouraged to raise concerns early so that issues can, where possible, be resolved respectfully.
Complaints concerning another member, Club activity or Club decision should normally be raised privately with the appropriate Singh Bikers representative rather than being pursued through public arguments or Club social media channels.
Serious complaints will be considered fairly and those involved should normally be given an appropriate opportunity to explain their position.
Nothing in this procedure prevents anyone from exercising their legal rights, contacting an appropriate authority or regulator, or obtaining independent legal advice.
26. Responsibility and Liability
Members and guests participate in Singh Bikers activities voluntarily and remain responsible for their own actions, riding decisions, motorcycle, equipment and compliance with the law.
Motorcycling carries risks that cannot be completely eliminated.
Singh Bikers will aim to take reasonable care when organising Club activities but cannot guarantee that rides or events will be free from accidents, delays, adverse weather, poor road conditions, mechanical failures, actions of other road users or other circumstances outside the Club's reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability or legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
27. Club Events and Changes to Activities
Ride routes, meeting points, timings, destinations and events may need to change at short notice because of weather, road closures, safety concerns, attendance, mechanical problems or other circumstances.
Singh Bikers may change, postpone or cancel an activity where reasonably necessary.
Members and guests should check the latest information provided through the Club's usual communication channels before attending.
28. Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time where reasonably necessary because of changes to Singh Bikers activities, membership arrangements, insurance, technology, legal requirements or the way the Club operates.
The latest version will be made available to members.
Where a change is significant, Singh Bikers will aim to bring it to members' attention and provide reasonable notice where practicable.
29. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Subject to any mandatory legal rights that apply, disputes concerning these Terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
30. Acceptance of Membership Terms
Anyone invited to become an official member of Singh Bikers or to attend a ride as a guest agrees to follow these Terms and reasonable Club rules, ride instructions and event requirements communicated by Singh Bikers.
Acceptance of these membership Terms is separate from any consent that Singh Bikers may request for particular uses of personal information.
31. Contact Singh Bikers
Questions about these Terms, membership or Club activities can be raised with Singh Bikers using the contact details published on the official Singh Bikers website.
